Scotch Chest of Drawers
Stunning Victorian Mahogany Scotch Chest of drawers with loads of charisma. One of the drawers has a handwritten inscription from December 1875 which we discovered under a layer of very old 19th century wallpaper!
There is a secret spring mechanism to open top centre drawer which was originally designed to house a Top Hat! There is slight damage to two of the knobs consistent with the age of the piece, but they are still in working order. The knobs have been left in the natural mahogany colour and some still have the original mother of pearl inlay. There are impressive rounded columns to the front corners and a shaped apron to the base. Would look fantastic in a Victorian or Georgian setting!
Due to its age this item has had a few knocks and bangs over the years. We feel this just adds to the character and history of the piece, but please be aware that it is not in pristine condition. Handpainted in Annie Sloan Country Grey and lightly distressed and waxed with the drawer interiors finished in Coco which is a soft warm tone. Quite large and heavy - please check the dimensions to ensure it will fit in the space intended!
This is a really impressive piece of furniture which definitely has the wow factor.
Dimensions: 131.5cm wide, 132cm high, 58cm deep
